This is a hand carved model of a 1978 GMC Truck. It was carved by local artist Robert Platero out of Red Cedar. We buy hand carved kachinas from Robert, but these vehicle carvings are his hobby, usually making one a year.
This piece of art is not a one trick pony. Roll it over and you see the attention to detail and accuracy that Robert puts into these pieces.

This is a hand carved 1978 GMC truck carved out of cedar wood by Robert Platero. The doors open, the hood lifts up, notice the suspension has the shocks and springs, the tie rod actually turns the wheels to steer, all the wheels rotate, and even the lug nuts are removable to change tires.
Above is a Kachina hand carved by Chee Jim, it is a northern traditional Dancer. The detail on this kachina is unbelievable. The picture doesn't give this kachina justice.

This is a carved art piece based on the story of the Four Worlds of the Hopi.
The First World- was corrupted by forgetting. The Ant People remembered the teachings of Spiderwoman and were saved from a destroying fire by hiding underground.
The Second World- was similar except animals no longer trust humans. Here to many forgot the teachings of Spiderwoman except all the Ant People. This world was destroyed by the twins leaving their places at the poles, letting the world spin out of control where it froze solid, until the twins once again took their places. This created the Third World.
The Third World- This world advanced more quickly, the people created large cities. This world was destroyed by Sotuknang with Floods, the people who remembered the teachings of Spiderwoman took refuge inside hollow bamboo.
The Fourth World- This world is the one in which we now inhabit. The survivors of the flooding were instructed to split up into different groups and cover the earth. The clans were given Tablets about the teachings of history and the future.
